Finally free time in Beijing..

Finally finished wif the Wharton event last nite.. was totally gd.. & today, we spent sme time tourin Tsinghua & Bei Dao Uni, the top few Uni in China.. seems dat it's a past time for local tourists to visit the Unis when they r touring Beijing as we saw lots of tour buses in the uni campus.. wonder when NUS will have such a scene too.. haha..

took a nite train to Tianjin for our next leg of tour.. really feels like i'm doin lots of travellin around for the past few days.. hee..

In Tianjin!!

Reached Tianjin abt 9+ & had dinner at sme chinese restaurant near our hotel, Holiday Inn.. basically, we were jus walkin around w/o any destination.. explorin the city at nite.. luckily the weather's cool, so even when i'm wearin a jacket, the weather's still gd & comfy..

Also saw a church while walkin around & took a pic of it.. the lightings for the church was so nice.. u wun have guessed it's in China or smethng closed to it.. hee..

In Beijing...

Took an early mornin flight to Beijing for the 2nd leg of the Wharton School's visit.. reached Beijing abt 10+ & it was good.. the only main thng i wanna complain abt is the terrible traffic jams dat r everywhere.. the pt is the roads are wide & proper with less cars as compared to Shanghai, but yet Shanghai's traffic is not as bad..

Anyway, since i'm in Beijing. i die die also have to go & see certain stuff or not it'll be a wasted trip... so since the Wharton program will only start on thurs, i had a day to go see the forbidden palace and the great wall.. haha...

The forbidden palace is big.. even after spending like 3.5hrs inside there, i still haven't walk the whole place & the fact's sme places r off limits to visitors too..

The great wall is really GREAT!! wah.. totally nice view of the city & i was so tired when i walked upwards.. had to be really careful when u r walkin down.. look at the pics & u will know..

Ended the day by havin Beijing's best Peking Duck at Hyatt Hotel.. wah.. the skin is totally power.. haha.. nice.. & the other food was fantastic too.. we spent like 1700rmb (dat's abt S$300+ & v ex by china standard since u can get a decent meal for abt 20rmb..)

2nd Day of Wharton Visit

It's the 2nd day of the company visits & i went to HSBC in the morning.. had a v enrichin presentation by their Hd of Strategy.. it was like a lesson on the whole banking industry in China & the rules governin it.. my afternoon session was at Sony.. it wasn't as interestin as i expected, but still overall a gd presentation..

went for an Insead conference at nite, before goin home & pack my stuff for our trip to Beijing & followed by Tianjin..

Visiting companies in Shanghai

Haven't had the time to do updates, so doin sme backdatin.. haha...

12/9 - Today's the start of the Wharton School visit to Shanghai, so got up real early & had a full buffet breakfast at 4 Seasons Hotel before starting the visits.. was basically running up & down Pudong today.. my morning visit was to Standard Chartered, where we had the senior economist to talk to us abt the financial stuff in China.. was a little dry for me as i'm not financed-trained (at least not yet.. haha..).. Went back to Hotel to collect lunch & was back to Puxi for the 2nd visit, which was to the Kodak Factory in Shanghai.. had a fun time there & even visited the production line for their digital cams.. we had to wear all yellow suits to keep the dusts out of the area.. cute huh.. took a pic of me wearin it.. hee...

House Warming..

Had house warmin at my place where i'm stayin wif the NUS interns.. so did the cookin too.. haha... made noodles.. pop corn chicken (ok, dis 1 abit the cheated since it's all done up, i jus need to deep fry it..) & the best.. sweet & sour pork!! haha.. tried it out wif another intern & it was great!! totally eaten up by every1.. only had a few pieces for myself.. luckily took a pic before servin to them, or not i wun get to see it nicely.. hee...

cooked all the way frm 6pm till 9+.. was totally tired out.. phew.. but the end result was gd.. shld try cookin it back in S'pore again.. hee.. hopefully can mantain standards since i had xiangling to do the sauces for the gravy..
